The Power of Thanksgiving

1. Thanksgiving provokes increase

Jeremiah 30:19 - Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

2. Thanksgiving engenders deliverance

Acts 16:25 - And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

3. Thanksgiving creates an environment for the miracles

John 6:11 - And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

John 11:40 - Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

4. Thanksgiving brings wholeness

Luke 17:12-19 - And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: 13and they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. 14And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. 15And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. 17And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 18There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. 19And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Scriptures to read

God wants and desires you to have things for you and your children through revealing things to you,

  • Deuteronomy 29:29 - “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

  • Luke 24:45 - And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

  • Ephesians 1:17-18 - that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

As believers our job is to believe and God performs,

Luke 1:45 - Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

All our efforts are in vain unless God is involved,

  • 1 Corinth 3:6 - I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.

  • Acts 2:47 - Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

You efforts are nothing without God,

Psalm 127:1 - Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.

John 15:5 - “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

  • You can pray amiss but you can't praise and thank God amiss.

  • Thanksgiving makes God do what you have asked for and do also what you have not remembered to ask for.

  • God expects Thanksgiving
