Overcoming Anxiety
We thank God for his word and the Holy Spirit for his teaching.
Today, we prayed against anxiety in us and our children. Anxiety is not what God wants for us; God wants us to have peace and calmness of mind. He wants us to Trust in him and depend on him. We must pray for our children because research shows that 1 in 8 children suffer from anxiety. We all experience anxiety.
The bible verses from today's prayers
1. John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
When a child or parent faces anxiety, we pray for peace first—peace so that we can understand what is causing the anxiety. In knowing the cause, one understands how to deal with the anxiety. We have to demystify what we are fearing. At the root of anxiety is fear of an unknown outcome
So, we must create an environment where children can express their feelings. As parents, we have to give children the tools to express themselves.
2. Psalm 94:18 and 19
David faced anxiety, which shows us that everyone is prone to it. We have to depend on God to overcome, just like David did.
So pray for children and us as parents to have a personal relationship with God so our children go to God when faced with anxiety. We seek God first on
What actions to take when experiencing anxiety
3. Philippians 4:6-10
Pray make your request known to God
4. Give thanks
Replace anxious thoughts with good thoughts.
Anxiety is about the mind. So once you pray, you replace the anxiety in your mind with good thoughts and gratitude cause anxiety and gratitude can not dwell in the same space.
5 . Romans 12:2
Renew your mind so you may have calmness and then hear God’s direction concerning your issue or your child’s issue. Then, we can parent or deal with our issues from a position of authority of God in us and not a position of fear.
God bless you all today
